Gut health and osteoporosis under investigation

A new study into ways to prevent osteoporosis will look at potential links between gut bacteria, bone density and diet.

Lead researcher Marlena Kruger says the Massey University School of Food and Nutrition project will take a wider approach to establishing which foods, rather than just nutrients, can modify risk for poor bone health.

Researchers would like to hear from Manawatu women aged between 55-70 years who are five years past menopause, to take part in the study.
