Fresh food Christmas parties

Here’s some inspiration for seasonal party foods that are fun and fresh and fabulous.

Christmas trees

The iconic shape of a Christmas tree makes it a dream to copy.

Simple sandwiches – transform a basic plate of sammies into a fun platter and watch them disappear.

Pita bread snacks – use some wholemeal flat breads teamed with a guacamole dip and some brightly coloured veg to create irresistible bites.

Cheese board – so simple and yet so impressive. Use a chopping board or tray to build a tree from cheese, nuts, dried fruit, herbs, veg or some lovely grainy crackers.

Candy canes

Candy canes seem to turn up attached to everything at this time of year. Luckily, making a healthy version is super quick and easy.

Apple candy canes – this is the simplest. Slice an apple and then cut into bite-sized pieces. Arrange to make a brightly coloured candy cane that’s irresistible to little hands.

Cheese and tomato candy canes – that’s a very long name for a very easy plate! Alternate sweet cherry tomatoes with chunks of cheese for a great appetiser.

Fruit candy cane – who doesn’t delight in strawberries and banana? This was done with enormous care but a quick version can look just as appetising.

Santa

Nothing says Christmas like Santa!

Strawberry Santas – combine plump strawberries with yoghurt, cream cheese or coconut cream and then add some blueberries for detail. Winner.

Santa hats – a simpler version is to create just his hat. Use desiccated coconut for the fur!

Santa pizza – if you want a savoury version then a pizza with red veg and cheese is perfect.

Christmas Symbols

Stars – a star platter makes a lovely statement. Use red and green fruit or veg to create a fabulous share plate.

Baubles – use fruit to create some colourful baubles. Add a dollop of yoghurt or coconut cream – yum!

Rudolph – and we can’t forget the star of the sled. Team wholemeal crackers with a cherry red nose and some jaunty carrot antlers.

Have a fabulous Christmas.
