Melon-o-saurus

Love, love, love melon season! My boys were delighted when they appeared and I couldn’t wait to start cutting them into shapes.

We started with a melon-o-saurus so we could fit in the last of the blueberries and the juicy pears as well. They’re pretty heavy if you get a whole one.

Recipe

Ingredients

  • watermelon
  • blueberries (or raisins)
  • pear (or apple)

Method

Step 1 Cut the watermelon into thick slices. Carve a head and neck from a slice.

Step 2 Then add a body.

Step 3 I had a gap so plugged it with a little piece of watermelon.

Step 4 Add a long tail.

Step 5 And some stocky legs.

Step 6 Then a blueberry eye.

Step 7 Use more blueberries for the mouth and the toes.

Step 8 Then build the trunk of the palm from more berries.

Step 9 Extend the trunk all the way to the ground and use slices of pear for the fronds.

Step 10 Pepita and sunflower seeds make the perfect ground.
