Oat puppy

Porridge is perfect for winter mornings. It’s lovely to have something warm and nourishing, and adding a bit of fruit gives flavour and extra nutrients.

For this recipe I have used cacao powder, which gives a chocolaty flavour without the sugar.

The boys loved this dish – they ate it for dessert one night and then made another for breakfast the next morning!

Recipe

Ingredients

  • oats (I use wholegrain)
  • banana
  • cacao powder (or cocoa powder)
  • blueberries or raisins (I used frozen blueberries)
  • raisin (or date)
  • strawberry (or piece of red apple)

Method

Step 1 Put some porridge or soaked oats in a bowl.

Step 2 Add banana ears.

Step 3 And two big, blueberry eyes.

Step 4 Sprinkle cacao (or cocoa) to make a patch.

Step 5 Use another blueberry sliced into a triangle for the nose.

Step 6 Then slice a large raisin to form the mouth.

Step 7 Add a strawberry mouth.
