Overeating? How’s your sleep?
Author: Healthy Food Guide staff
Not getting enough sleep can make people more interested in snack foods, according to a new study. Recent German research found study participants who were deprived of one night’s sleep were willing to pay more for snack foods such as chocolate and chips. Brain scans showed this seemed to be driven by feel-good factors in the brain rather than hormonal effects. The findings add to a growing body of evidence that lack of sleep may promote overeating and increase obesity risk.
