How to make pancakes

It’s one of the most-searched items on Google – everyone wants to know how to make the perfect pancake. Here’s a basic recipe for 12 medium-sized pancakes.

1½ cups flour
1 tablespoon sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
¼ teaspoon salt
1 cup trim milk
2 large eggs, lightly beaten

In a large mixing bowl, sift together flour, baking powder and baking soda. Add sugar and salt.  Whisk in milk and eggs until just combined.
2 Spray a non-stick pan with oil and set over a medium heat (not too hot or you’ll burn your pancakes).  Add about 1/4 cup of pancake mixture to the pan.  Wait until bubbles form then carefully turn over. Repeat for the rest of the mixture.

HFG tips

  • For easy, healthy gluten-free pancakes, try Banana pancakes: 1 ripe mashed banana, 2 eggs and a dash of cinnamon per person.
  • Keep pancakes in the oven (preheated to low) so they stay warm while you cook the rest.
