Q: Do certain foods give you acne, such as chocolate, fatty or high-sugar foods?

Senior nutritionist Rose Carr responds:

A: No. Despite common beliefs, no relationship between particular foods and acne has been shown. One 2007 study found an improvement in acne in men who ate a low glycaemic diet for eight weeks, which seemed promising until a more recent study compared men on low and high glycaemic diets and found acne in both groups improved. The research continues!
