
Gut study questions probiotic benefits

Taking probiotics won’t necessarily mean lasting changes to what’s living in your gut. In a series of experiments, researchers from Israel found many people’s digestive tracts prevent standard probiotics from successfully colonising them in the long term. And in a second paper, they found taking probiotics to counterbalance antibiotics could delay the return of normal gut bacteria to their original state.
