A little exercise goes a long way for older people

Getting old doesn’t necessarily mean becoming weak and frail, as just a little bit of exercise can help maintain muscle mass and strength.

Ageing is associated with reduction in both muscle size and strength, a condition known as sarcopenia, which is a driver of morbidity and mortality. University of Otago researchers found resistance and endurance training protects muscle mass, and that ‘it’s never too late to start’.
