  • 750ml bottle red wine, cheap but full-bodied, from a bottle or box
  • 2 cups orange juice
  • ¼ cup castor sugar
  • 1 punnet strawberries, hulled and halved
  • ½ orange, thinly sliced with the skin on
  • ¼ cup Cointreau or other orange liqueur (buy a miniature)
  • 2 cups lemonade

    1 In a large jug or 2 litre plastic bottle combine the wine, orange juice, sugar, Cointreau and the prepared fruit. Mix well to dissolve the sugar and refrigerate for around 8 hours or longer to allow the fruit flavours to develop.

    2 When ready to serve, add the lemonade and serve ice cold.
