Toasted muesli

Making your own toasted muesli is fun and homemade tastes so much better than bought. Once you've got the hang of it, feel free to experiment with different nuts, fruit and seeds.

  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • ¼ cup wheat germ
  • 1 cup rye or bran flakes
  • ⅓ cup hazelnuts, chopped finely
  • ⅓ cup flaked almonds
  • ⅓ cup sultanas
  • ⅓ cup dried apricots, chopped
  • ⅓ cup dried figs, chopped

    1 Preheat oven to 160°C. Place oats, wheat germ and rye or bran flakes on a large baking tray and toast in oven for 10 minutes, tossing mixture on tray halfway through.

    2 Pour into a bowl and mix with hazelnuts, almonds and dried fruits. Store in a sealed jar.
