How many kilojoules are in that coffee?

Coffee is more than just a hot drink for many of us; it’s a wake-me-up, a pick-me-up … part of our morning ritual. These days we have multiple choices. But how much energy are we actually consuming in our coffee?

If we drink two (or more) coffees a day, it might be worth noting how many kilojoules are in our favourite café coffee.

Tips

  • Most café coffees are double shots so if you prefer a single shot, you may have to ask.
  • A cappuccino has equal amounts of froth and milk; a flat white has very little froth and more milk; and a latte is similar (with steamed milk and little froth) but tends to be larger.

We compare the kilojoules in each coffee with those in a slice of wholemeal bread (240kJ).
