Poultry producers Inghams Enterprises and Tegel Foods Limited have been issued with warnings by the Commerce Commission over claims about the size of their chickens.
After an investigation, the Commission said in a press release that both companies were likely to have made misleading package claims about chicken size by including stuffing and marinade in the weight of chickens, and they were given warning letters.
This prompted the Poultry Industry Association of New Zealand to review labeling standards and Inghams and Tegel have indicated they will make label changes.
