
Chocolate chip and spice orange cookies

Ingredients
- 1 cup oatsoatmeal uncookedX
- ½ cup flour
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup brown sugarlight brown cane sugarX
- 115g reduced-fat spread
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
- 1 teaspoon mixed spice
- 1 orange, zest
- ½ cup dark chocolate chips
Instructions
1 Preheat oven to 190°C. Line 2 baking trays with baking paper. Mix oats, flour, baking soda and salt together in a large bowl.
2 In another bowl beat sugar, spread, egg, vanilla, spice and orange zest together.
3 Stir egg mixture into flour mixture to just combine. Stir in chocolate chips. Spoon mixture onto trays, leaving space in between for spreading while cooking.
4 Cook for 12-15 minutes or until golden at edges and firm to touch. Cool for 5 minutes before removing from tray. Cool completely then place in a sealed container to keep for up to 2 days.
HFG tip
For baking, use a reduced-fat spread with around 60-65g fat per 100g (although 55 per cent fat may be fine for most baking).

There’s no reduced fat spread in the instructions?

Thanks for your comment. The spread is used in step 2, beaten together with the sugar and eggs, etc.
