Kiwi obesity stubbornly high

Adult obesity rates have increased from 27 per cent of the population to 32 per cent in the past decade and child obesity rates have also increased, from 8.4 per cent to 12.4 per cent.

However, according to the most recent New Zealand Health Survey, in the past 12 months those rates have not significantly changed. Dare we hope our rates might go down in future?

New Zealand has the third-highest obesity rate in the OECD.
