The health benefits of popcorn
Author: HFG staff
Popcorn might not seem to be the most nutritious snack, but there are actually healthy reasons to love it.
Classified as a whole grain, popcorn provides gut-loving fibre, as well as disease-fighting antioxidants called polyphenols.
It also contains small amounts of zinc necessary for wound healing, plus iron for oxygen transport. Popcorn is also naturally low in kilojoules/calories!
Instead of butter and salt, try your popcorn with our healthy flavour pairings:
- Dried oregano and parmesan, for a savoury twist
- Paprika and cumin, for a Mexican flavour bomb
- Cumin and chilli flakes, if you like your popcorn hot!
- Honey and cocoa powder, for a lovely sweet finish.
